Thirteen states on the east-coast of the United States suffer from heavy snowfall, low temperatures and strong winds due to severe winter weather. This can cause delays as a result of disruptions in local infrastructure and even flight cancellations.

Update 10-01: Due to the heavy winter weather, international airports at New York face major flight cancellations. We expect delays for deliveries to the American East Coast area to sustain for the upcoming week. It’s expected that as soon as flights are back to normal the backlogs that currently arise will be processed quickly. We will inform you when the situation will be back to normal.

Saudi Arabia

Effective 1 January 2018, a value-added tax (VAT) of 5% will be applied to the total value of each individual item entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to be paid by the consignee. This includes, without exception, all commodities being sent to Saudi Arabia, regardless of their purpose.

It is therefore essential that each CN22/23 provide clear and precise details, including the name of the product and the total value under each item. This will help speed up Customs processing. Missing details may cause delays.

The Philippines have been hit by tropical storm Kai-Tak, causing floods and landslides. Deliveries in the region might suffer delays due to damaged infrastructure. The storm is expected to hit Malaysia on the 23 December. We will inform you when the situation will be back to normal.

On 6 November, Vietnam has been hit by typhoon Damrey, causing flooding and landslides. The southern region of Vietnam is still affected by the damages from typhoon Damrey. On 19/11 a new tropical storm, Kirogi, made landfall in the same region, which delayed the recovery process. Deliveries in the southern region of Vietnam might still suffer delays. – Update 04-01: Major delays for the region have ceased although the southern region of Vietnam has been tempered with tropical storms on the 25th of December and will be hit by a tropical storm around the 4th of January. We will inform you if the situation changes.

The Canadian Postal Exchange Office in Toronto is currently experiencing delays in its processing capacity and delivery of mail volumes. Please note that Canadian post does not provide scandata for international tracked mail. 

Update 15/01: We have taken notice of reports stating the situation at Canadian Post is improving as peak volumes have ceased. Do note that Canadian post doesn't provide scandata for international tracked mail. For Packet & Tracked and Parcel products scandata should be received as usual. We will inform you when the situation will be back to normal.

Brazil

The strike that caused the transportation issues to Brazil has ended 9 October. We are currently working with Correios de Brasil to clear the backlogs created by the strike. As they have received increased volumes from destinations worldwide, delays can be expected in the upcoming weeks. We are currently scaling up our capacity on flights to Brazil to aid in the recovery to normal transition times. We will inform you if the situation changes.

We would like to inform you that it’s not possible to send any mail and parcels to Venezuela as the route has been closed off due to the political instability in the country. Currently, we are exploring alternative routes, but advise you not to send any items to Venezuela until further notice.
