No, this is not necessary. You can also log in with a guest account.

But there are many advantages to creating an account:
  • You can import multiple shipments at the same time
  • You can follow your shipment online
  • The sender's address is filled in by default
  • A VAT invoice can be re-requested
  • You can review your order history at any time
